hullo all
iv recently painted my 1990 mini metropolis with mipa 2k solid color paint and i am having terrible problems with fish eyes. four been told that they are caused by silicone on surface and i should take care when degreasing but i take degreased three times and all the same i go them so does everyone know how to get rid of them once in that location on the console (i presume sanding) and how to cease them coming back?
regards Chris.

have you tried flatting off the suface and dry spraying over it to build it up? Remember it is caused by silicone/ polish left on the surface.

i normally accident over from more than of a altitude so its more dry out. The closer yous get the wetter it is and more risk of runs. Id try just flatting information technology off with some moisture and dry fine, guve it a few blow overs, see if they go, and so y'all tin always requite information technology a quick apartment off again earlier a wet coat to get some smooth.
Its worked for me in the past.

Nightmare.

Equally said all you tin practice is flat them out and repaint.

You can purchase anti silicone drops to put in your paint too, with varied success.

Panel wipe generously and with lots of clean cloths too.

I sometimes wait for the paint to flash off, and drib paint into the silicones, and then flat it dorsum after. Information technology'southward always expert to effort and find where the contamination is coming from, although in a non bodyshop environment it could be anywhere!

If information technology were contamination under the paint would bar glaze assistance?

Not really a suggestion, simply curious?

had a problem with fish eye when i used to spray iron gates. we wiped down all the surfaces, new gun, hoses, the works but information technology however kept coming back. turned out in the end to be the actual pigment from the supplier. he gave us some drops to put in information technology(free of accuse) and it never happened over again.

as for your current paint, information technology will need taking back a bit earlier spraying again as silicone is virtually impossible to remove completely i'm afraid.

Ive done the same as pete before if your just getting a handful.

Go a very fine pointed brush and when your last coat has gone tacky you can blob them in out your mixing pot, requite it another 2-3 minutes and then your next coat.

Once nibbed and polished you cannot tell.

Not really a suggestion, just curious?

Silicone/ fisheye marks dont come from older paint or something underneath, thats a reaction.. which barcoat stops.

To save me starting a new tread….

Basically I been re-spraying the 25 and lacquering information technology this fourth dimension, which in parts considering under the circumstances I'm doing it, hasn't turned out too bad. I did how always have a load of runs down both sides, more down to doing it in a cramped garage. So doing a side at a time so I accept a bit more than room to play in I've sanded the runs back, gone back over with silvery and re-lacquered, with no more runs this time.

The issues I've got now is I accidentally dropped something on ane of the front wings, which although the paint was dry, had been left for 2 days it was still soft with information technology existence enamel based. And so I'd chipped and scratched the paint, just what with it being a lite metallic silver, meant I had to sand information technology back again and go back over it, etc.

The problem I've been having is every fourth dimension I've gone to spray the sliver base glaze it starts off fine, but these clear blobs keep appearing, I've mixed up a new batch of paint and cleaned out the gun in the hope of it being some of the left over lacquer possibly mixing and causing the reaction, just with no departure.

So if I've got this right, and this is getting frustrating having to keep re-painting the same console, that the reaction is caused by the panel non being completely spotless before spraying?
